History

If you think “Queenstown Harbor” sounds regal, you’re correct. The land occupied by our golf course has a direct connection to royalty and is steeped in history.

My Lord’s Gift

Historically named “My Lord’s Gift,” the land was given to Henry deCoursey by Cecil Calvert in the 1600s as a reward for his services. deCoursey, a surveyor for Calvert (the second Lord of Baltimore), placed his thumbprint on a map was granted all of the land under his thumb. That’s why the territory was known as the “thumb grant” for hundreds of years.

From Dairy Farm
to Golf Course

When the owners of The Brick Companies found the land in the 1970s, it was being used as a dairy farm and working crop fields. The Brick Companies executives decided to build a golf course so they could share the beauty of the land and wildlife with the public.

Artifacts

During construction of the course, experts conducted a large archaeological dig under the original DeCoursey home site, and unearthed and historically preserved millions of artifacts from the era. Many of these artifacts are displayed in the corporate headquarters of The Brick Companies in Edgewater, Maryland, and many more were donated to the Maryland Historic Trust.

History

Next time you visit Queenstown Harbor Golf course, take a few moments to enjoy the beauty — and to appreciate hundreds of years of history beneath your tee!

We Care

At Queenstown Harbor, we’re deeply committed to environmental sustainability, carefully stewarding our land to preserve its natural beauty for future generations. From responsible turf management to wildlife habitat conservation, caring for our course means caring for the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem we call home.

Our Environment

Queenstown Harbor offers a serene escape surrounded by preserved wetlands, native wildlife, and sweeping waterfront views. As part of The Brick Companies’ commitment to environmental leadership, 198 acres have been placed under permanent conservation, protecting the natural beauty of the Chesapeake Bay region. Recognized with the Environmental Leader in Golf Award, Queenstown Harbor is where world-class golf and sustainable stewardship come together.

Our Wildlife

The wildlife at Queenstown Harbor offers an intimate look at a natural Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. The whitetail deer and red foxes will zig zag the golf courses on any given day. The rockfish and blue crabs swim in the waters along the coast and osprey hunt the shorelines of the Chesapeake Bay.

We are proudly the LARGEST blue heron rookery on the eastern shore and Audubon Certified since 2008.

Our People

The people at Queenstown Harbor are what make this place unique. We promise to always offer a warm welcome and inviting experience to all guests.

Everyone on the Queenstown Harbor team is a seasoned and experienced professional who cares most about giving you the best golf experience. If you’re interested in joining the team at Queenstown please submit an application below.
